Teachers play an important role in changing students’ lives. To become a teacher, you must complete your graduation and then training in the form of B.Ed — bachelor’s of education, which makes you eligible for G.T.T(Graduate Trained Teacher). If you are a postgraduate who also holds a B.Ed, then, you can apply for P.G.T (For classes XI and XII). If you have completed M.Ed after B.Ed and clear the NET exam, then, you are eligible for teaching in college and university as an assistant professor.

With changing times and the increasing role of technology, there are various opportunities available for teachers. The impact of technology is also changing the face of education, especially the relationship between the teacher and students. Teachers are using the technology to replace standardised, rote learning, and create more personalised, self directed experiences for students. The market has opened innumerable opportunities for tech-savvy teachers:

Instructional technology specialist: This post involves developing project plans for implementing a range of instructional technology, evaluating new and emerging technology and their ability to meet both teaching and learning needs, educational technology initiatives such as flipped classrooms/blended learning, iPads for teaching and learning, and active learning classrooms, planning, organising, and leading workshops for faculty and students in the use of specific instructional technology.

Corporate trainer: The job of a corporate trainer is to help improve employees’ performance skills (soft, people, or hard skills). The job description of a corporate trainer can range from delivering classroom training, assisting in coordination, and delivery of new hire training programmes, including coaching and training on certain topics and tasks, collaborating with sales leadership to identify, recommend, and implement training solutions that maximise organisational efficiencies and performance.

Learning consultant: They design and deploy global learning competency/behaviour-based roadmap for employees and leaders at all levels. Their job involves designing learning roadmaps based on core and key competencies/behaviours to accelerate employee’s and organisational performance, aligned with short and long-term business goals, building a global learning platform and solutions that take into consideration a variable expense model through vendors and internal solutions, developing processes and infrastructure to ensure that the learning is applied, and provides a measurable return on the investment tied to higher business results and employee engagement.

Instructional designer: They create instructional experiences which make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing. They collaborate faculty. Instructional designers, utilise state-of-the-art technology to produce engaging online courses, providing curriculum design, development and launch support for all electronically delivered classes, while creating, altering and maintaining websites used with respect to specific programmes.

Due to the advent of technology and its expansion in the market, new needs are constantly arising, and this helps teachers in meeting challenges that transcend the four walls of classroom. Different countries are looking for mentors who are experts in Indian languages and can train students by webinar, chat rooms, online assignments, Skype, and so on. Trends are changing and teachers are agent of change, bringing new dimensions of learning.
